Are Drone Bees Male or Female?

In a honey bee colony, drones (male bees) are sexually developed males that are produced from unfertilized eggs. Drone bees do not have stingers and do not perform any of the work tasks that are carried out by the female worker bees. Instead, their primary role is to mate with queens (fertile female bees) from other colonies. Drone bees are larger than worker bees and have a more rounded appearance. They are also less agile and are not as well adapted to performing tasks within the hive as worker bees.

It is worth noting that honey bees are not the only type of bee that has drones. Many other bee species, including bumblebees, have drones as well. However, the roles and behaviors of drones in these other bee species can vary.
